Living local, urban design, sustainability, landscape architecture, and places in the East Bay. Design that works where it is.
Five-one-oh explores local stuff because living local promotes sustainability and a deeper connection to where you are.
Five-one-oh posts tend to be brief and image-focused.
When I was 35 years old, I moved my family from Santa Cruz to San Luis Obispo to study Landscape Architecture. It was there I learned the importance of planting myself in the place where I am.
In 2008, I married Jan and we bought our home in Oakland. Jan works her magic on my posts, making them not only more readable but more accessible. If a post makes you smile, that’s Jan.
I’m a landscape architect, urban designer, and planner. The East Bay is in my blood.

It’s always nice having someone in your life who can perform magic. You are very fortunate to have found that special person. Congratulations. My life would never have felt as complete as it is without my wife’s contributions. Looking forward to reading more.
Stay healthy and happy!
